I'm a chartered civil engineer. I spent eight years on UK rail and highway schemes, most recently deciding whether finished assets were ready to be accepted.
The same problems kept costing contractors money: compensation events notified too late, handover records nobody could find, estimating teams with more drawings than time. None of it was difficult engineering. It needed someone who knew what the document had to say and would get it done on time.
That's why I set up HVR Group. I scope each job myself, you agree the fee before we start, and nothing leaves us without a chartered check.

Engineering assurance and handover approval across 32 major and 28 ancillary assets on viaduct and earthworks packages, working with 10 multi-disciplinary teams. Directed design changes and resolved technical disputes.

Planning and coordination of three viaducts worth over £150m, NEC3 Option C early warnings and compensation events, constructability reports and design reviews.

We bring the review discipline of a major scheme to smaller jobs. Scopes are written down before we start, outputs follow our own templates, and a chartered engineer reviews each one before it goes out.

How work is checked
The same five steps on each job. We produce the work on our own templates, and a chartered engineer checks and signs it before issue. Structural and building services designs are signed by chartered engineers in those disciplines.

Structural designs are checked and signed by a chartered engineer (CEng) with structural design experience, and building services designs by a chartered building services engineer (CEng MCIBSE).

Social value and sustainability
Drawings, registers and packs go out electronically, not on paper. We review documents remotely where we can, which cuts site visits and the travel that goes with them.
A lot of our work is for school estates. We help smaller trusts and standalone schools make the case for condition funding, then see that the works they win are designed, tendered and handed over properly.
